Sinatra

Sinatra

Hello!!

I am so sorry it has been so long since I wrote. I'm the lady in CT who adopted Sinatra. You folks were absolutely wonderful in getting him to me. Please forgive my tardiness in writing. Also, I haven't forgotten about sending you a "kitty" carriage -- which I will do shortly. Should I send it to 671 Airport Road, Fernandina, FL 32034?

Now for the update on Sinatra.... First, we've changed his name (sorry), but he didn't come to Sinatra when I called him. When I tried out assorted names, the one he responded to was Gavin. He liked it and came to it within several days. Hope you don't mind. I understand the whole "blue eyes" connection, but I do think that cats have to choose their names.... so Gavin it is!

In a nutshell, he's 100% wonderful. I kept him segregated into our large dining room when he first arrived, but it was soon very obvious that he wanted to join the other animals. After several days of letting all the animals "see" each other through the glass doors, I opened the French Doors, and he strolled into the house and socialized with our other pets like he'd always been a part of our family. That night, he slept on the bed and by the next day, he was fully integrated. My last adopted cat took 120 days to fully integrate, so Gavin is a record holder in my household. He's very confident and comfortable with other animals.

The older cats accepted him and although he tries to "stalk them", he's not too pushy about it, and so he does not upset them.

Especially surprising was his affection for my large German Shepherd, Tehya. Tehya can be a little intimidating due to her size, but Gavin soon claimed her for his own. They "kiss" and he lies near her. This past week, they've started to play together, with Gavin leading the charge. He jumps on the couch and then "pounces" on her. She's very gentle with him and lets him do whatever he wants. They're adorable.

I built Gavin a lovely outdoor cattery so he can go outside whenever he wants. It is shaped like an octagon, with tree stumps and a climbing post. Of course, he has cat trees inside the house, but for some reason nothing can compare with the outside cattery. He loves being in there so much I have plans to expand it past its current 8x8 size.

And I owe you updated photos  -- Gavin has put on weight and he looks good... as soon as he does something cute, I run to get the camera, and he changes or leaves the area... and when I have the camera, nothing!!!

All the best,

Susan Castle in CT

PS He still sneezes but it doesn't seem to amount to anything, maybe a slight allergy? He's like my husband -- will sneeze 5-6 times in a row. Can cats be allergic to people? LOL
