Scarlett

Scarlett

Hi, I'm Scarlett, I used to be Hiawatha.

My nine brothers and sisters and I found our way to the kind people at the Nassau County Humane society.  Each of us have found our forever homes thanks to these wonderful people. My mommy and daddy are very proud of me, and why wouldn't they be?  I'm very smart.  I graduated from puppy school at PetSmart and have now started my intermediate classes.

My life has taken some hard turns.  When we were "fixed" (I didn't know we were broken), we all came down with demadex mange (still not sure what that was, but I'm not supposed to start going bald at only 3 months old).  My mommy and daddy are sending pictures of me when I had my mange.  My friends at the humane society gave me medicine and my hair started growing back.  That's when I met my new mommy and daddy. We met at a PetSmart adoption and they took me to my forever home.  They even had cool toys for me to play with and even an older brother.  He's a kitty, and he's kind of grumpy.  I like to play with him, but he doesn't like to play very much.  Well, all of my hair grew back and now I have a shiny black coat (I'm sooo pretty!).Mommy and daddy are sending another picture of me to show you all how much I've grown (and how pretty I am).

I started having trouble walking a couple weeks ago and mommy took me to the doctor.  He says I have hip dysplasia.  I have to have surgery next week.  Mommy says it will make me all better and I can start going to school again soon.  I sure hope so, I love going to school and seeing all of my friends.  I even love riding in the car.  I will email you again soon to let you know how my surgery went.  After that I really will be perfect.  I promise to come visit soon.  Thank you for helping me find my mommy and daddy.

Lots of love,
Scarlett

Tanya,

I wanted to give you an update on Scarlett.  She had her surgery the last week of March was walking (however reluctantly) by the next day.  Within a week she seemed to be walking pain-free and now LOVES to run!  She has never seemed happier.  We all moved to Charlotte, NC and are living in an apartment.  Not the big back yard that she's used to, but we go on lots of walks and do hope to remedy that soon.  I was so excited to see Scarlett on Happy Tails!  I love showing off my baby.  Because of the surgery and then the move intermediate school has been put on hold, but hopefully the PetSmart will have a class starting soon.  I really hope all is well with you and keep up the good work.  Because of you guys, so many animals have found the loving homes they deserve and so many people have a life long companion.  I can't imagine our lives without Scarlett.

Happy puppy parents,
John and Jessica
