The wonderful women who found him running lost in Fernandina Beach fell in love with him, but has 2 dogs already and thought she could not keep him.  After waiting a week to see if anyone claimed him, he was tested for heartworm. Sure enough, whoever had him before did not have him on heartworm prevention and he turned out to be positive.

Another women said, "Please do not put him to sleep. I will pay for his heartworm treatment to celebrate a friends birthday as a gift to her!" 

What a great gift, the gift of life!  Beth, the lady who found him volunteered to give Charlie foster care throughout the six weeks of treatment. Wel,l you guessed it.  At the end of the 6 weeks she could never see him in another home.  He fit right in with her other 2 big dogs!  So Beth has now moved from Foster Mom to just plain Mom and Charlie is so happy!  They even have started dressing in the same colors!
